The Specials UK Tour – Perfect Harmony™

Le Mark has delivered Harmony™ vinyl stage floor in matt grey for The Specials’ 2019 UK Tour.

Since 1984, Adlib has enabled musicians, comedians, event organisers, theatres, performance spaces, venues and schools to educate and entertain audiences all over the world. They have come to be one of the most well-known and respected names in the event production industry.

Adlib recently worked on the UK leg of The Specials’ Encore album tour. They provided design services, lighting, audio, custom drapes and staging elements.

Simon Pettitt was on board as lighting and stage designer. He explains why Le Mark’s flooring provided the perfect stage for The Specials.

Long-Lasting Performance

“The theme for the set was grey, so that dictated the colour floor that we were searching for”, said Simon. “The floor needed to have a matte surface so that light beams and colour would render well on it without bouncing off. The Harmony floor’s finish did this really well.

“We also needed decent durability to cope with the two-month schedule. Initially, we bought double, assuming we’d have to swap to the second roll halfway through the tour. Remarkably, the first roll lasted until the end! Instead, we just used the spare roll to increase coverage on the largest of stages (i.e. Brixton Academy).”

Lightweight Touring Floor

“The Harmony floor has an impressive weight to durability ratio,” continued Simon. “In other words, it held up nicely for the tour while remaining relatively easy to transport. From a designer’s point of view, I was happy with its clean, sleek look and how well the matte finish took colour and beams without any glare.”

Long-Term Relationship

“We chose to buy from Le Mark because we already have a great existing relationship via their other product lines. We regularly order our gaffer and PVC tapes from them and use their custom printing service.
