Our Team Behind the Scenes:

Finding Scrabble, by Jess Morris

Hi, I’m Jess and I’m part of the team at Le Mark. Recently, I went through one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and it’d like to tell you a little bit about it…

I’m a huge animal lover, along with my partner, Dan. We’d both been umming and arring for a while about bringing a dog into our lives. We both knew how much love we had to give, and once we were happy we could 100% commit, we decided we were ready for another furry friend.

We knew a rescue puppy was right for us

For ethical reasons, we decided that to rescue a dog was the best option for us. There are so many unfortunate dogs in this world, in desperate need of loving homes. We wanted to be a part of the solution to this problem.

Searching for our new friend

I’d heard about the situation in Romania with regards to stray dogs. It breaks my heart that so many of these beautiful creatures have no food, no home, and could potentially catch diseases. Furthermore, their lives are often cut short, if no one can be found to take care of them. It was a no brainer for me to look into adopting a Romanian dog. I started my search on Facebook, joining some reputable rescue groups and charities.

He stole my heart straight away

As I scrolled through some of the hundreds of dogs needing rescue, I saw Scrabble. Scrabble, along with eight other puppies, was desperately hoping for a new home. They all looked underweight and seemed so helpless… Scrabble looked so sad, and he stole my heart straight away! I knew that Dan and I could give him the life he deserves. I just wanted to get him looked after and have him in our loving care as soon as possible.

We didn’t have long to wait…

We sponsored our puppy’s care until he was old enough to travel. Then, on the 14th December he packed his bags, waved his passport in the air and boarded the happy bus to the UK. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for anything. I couldn’t wait to give him a massive cuddle and tell him everything was going to be okay from that moment.

Scrabble arrived a couple of days after leaving Romania. He was very smelly, very scared and very hungry. I fell in love with him straight away and knew I’d do everything in my power to give him the best life possible.

The best decision I have ever made

It took him a while to settle in (understandably), but he’s now full of life! He’s so bouncy, loving and full of joy. He can be a little rascal at times (I’ve had to sacrifice my cushions and curtains), but I wouldn’t change him for the world! This has been the best decision I’ve ever made, and I can’t wait to take him on lots of adventures and create lasting memories with him. 😊
