Recycling-process-friendly is a term used to describe a material that can be separated and extracted during recycling process. These materials can then be used to manufacture secondary products, such as garden furniture made from recycled materials. However, this is dependent on each local councils recycling capabilities.
Easier recycling
Tapes marked as recycling-process-friendly can usually be left attached to recyclable packaging. Not having to remove them makes recycling much easier for you and your customers. Le Mark’s custom printed tapes are all recycling-process-friendly, with the exception of ECO Recyclable+ which is fully recyclable.
Only use what you need
The general guide is that recycling-process-friendly tapes can account for up to 5% of recyclable waste. The average cardboard box, for example, is sealed with only a few lengths of tape. As a result, the box has considerably more mass and should fall within the 5% range.
On the other hand, a package heavily wrapped may not meet requirements and could end up going to a landfill. As a result, we recommend only using what you need. Furthermore, it’s a good idea to check with your local recycling centre as requirements can vary.
The recycling process is improving
Many recycling centres are now working with specialist partners that transform waste plastics, like custom printed tapes, into new items. However, it’s not yet available nationwide. Your local recycling centre should be able to give you more information on what’s available in your area.
There is a fully recyclable option
ECO Recyclable+ is 100% recyclable, biodegradable and compostable. This custom printed paper tape takes environmental awareness to a whole new level. Furthermore, it’s made using FSC certified paper. Find out more about recyclable custom printed tape.
