It's a true pleasure to be able to feature Roger Duncan as our "Launch" Designer in this first issue. Roger was destined to perform on one side of the camera or the other, following his Grandfather's footsteps, who was a pioneering photographer using glass plate negatives and a paraffin powered lantern! Roger joined the BBC in 1962 commencing his craft with camera crew 7 and graduating to microphone boom swinger on Dixon of Dock Green (Evening All) at the old film studios in Lime Grove, London. The rapid expansion of programme making then gave Roger the chance to start controlling the lighting and assisting the Lighting Director as a Lighting Vision Supervisor. He did this for 35 years on the widest range of programmes at many different locations. Working alongside LDs on classic situation comedies such as Porridge and Allo Allo. Significant dramas including When The Boat Comes In and Duchess of Duke Street, culminating in many episodes of East Enders. Taking early retirement from the BBC in the summer of 2000, Roger now intends to concentrate his skills and energy as a Lighting Consultant with his own company, "Duncan Lighting Design". Current projects include the re-lighting of the studio used by one of the leading Symphony Orchestra's. This draws on nearly 10 years of enthusiastic study of architectural lighting. Not forgetting his continuing work with the STLD. ![]() A busy man but Roger found time to impart some of his extensive experience to Le Mark. We wanted to consider what particular GAM Products would be of interest to the professional LD and what we needed to stock here in the UK. We thank him for his patience in listening and then answering our questions. We leave the door open for any future suggestions Roger may have on how we can improve our range. Thank You, Stuart Gibbons |

PAL Partnerships The year 2000 has been a great one for Le Mark, forming working partnerships and co-product development with some great companies. Spring saw the start with the birth of the Penn-PAL steel dish. as a joint development between Le Mark and Colin Freeman of Penn Fabrications. It was launched at the April Pro Light and Sound Show in Frankfurt. The PAL Label, as many readers will know, is a unique heavy duty, custom printed road case label, that sticks like the proverbial! |
| It can be written on with permanent waterproof market pen, then cleaned off with PAL Clean Spray after a hire or tour. The new Penn Fabrication recessed dish gives extra protection to the rigid plastic PAL label. The dish is manufactured in the three most popular sizes and available from Penn Fabrications Europe and the USA.
A website, www.pallabel.com makes ordering and communications with both companies easier. You can now 'click' and design your own Pallabel, or talk to/email Sally@lemark.co.uk and she will be happy to help you get the best from your design. ![]() Who has the wildest premises? The business that entices our imaginations to run with 'creative flair'. To produce something different with either lights or sound to create an effect that stuns and will be remembered. LeMark's Austrian dealers Tuchler GmbH have done this to the outside of their premises, it certainly catches the eye when you arrive - the whole building is a mural! The offices which are set in a quiet Viennese street, have been painted depicting an Eastern landscape with mountains and forests. To add to that, a two storey high native dancing girl beckons you in. We think this is one of the wildest office buildings we have seen so far ..... unless, of course, you know different.
